Advice needed: fretting techniques for simple power chord rhythms (chug chug style)

I actually prefer to change chords on open sound (without palmmuting) so your riff is more difficult for me.

Anyway, the point is: with drums it would still sound more or less good. Especially when drummer goes fullmetal

I use a lot of cheats and tricks in my playing. Basically, I am a black belt in Not-Clean-Playing-Jutsu and Mask-That-Noise-With-Drums-Fu )

My main conclusion, according to Dave Mustaine’s Spider Riffing Theory :-D, is that this is the most efficient solution to the simple riff I was working on: the optimal use of 1-3 or 2-4 allows for maximum sustain and cleanliness in the chord changes. Only problem is that your fretting hand has to do quite a lot of work:
