@Jadendav950 Thank you so so much. There’s so much to unpick here. Give me a day or two to catch up with all your videos and comments and i’ll do my best to reply WITH videos. Really appreciate the comments, the time, the critique and the help!!!
If you’re trying to develop alternate picking that isn’t only single escape, it’s best to limit the challenges and win small victories. What I meant by looping six is…
In the first measure, the picking is all “outside”, meaning that as a primarily DSX player, the 6th note will either require DBX, or some sort of helper motion to make it work. The second measure is much the same, the first 5 notes are all DSX with the 6th needing something else, but it will probably feel a bit different as it is inside picking rather than outside.
You could play the whole thing as written and repeat it, but I’d probably work on repeating one measure at a time at first.
I have found the looping sixes, ascending and descending really useful at improving alternate picking! Your explanation on how to do them was fantastic. Vinnie Moore includes them in his routine aswell and I’ve been doing them as part of a routine aswell. Great recommendation! In my case it’s mostly ascending where I have trouble with DBX secondary motion, I have found starting the ascending group with an upstroke is another way to work on this issue.
No problem at all! I’m only giving ideas here and hope some of them will be useful!
