Anyone here using an L6 Helix LT?

Well YJM would agree with you! But the reason I asked was that you said, above,

This made me think that you’d send your signal to front of house and somebody would be mixing it there, but then you’d probably want your own custom mix in your ears where your guitar is a lot more prominent and not necessarily what the fans are listening to. Will your band go in-ear for your next tour? So do you think something is inherently wrong with the Helix LT, or is it that your FoH sound guy just doesn’t mix as you prefer?

Do you build your own presets? Have you tried 3rd party? Have you researched on the L6 forums?

Many problems that I’ve encountered were the results of my lack of knowledge.

Maybe you’re doing some things incorrectly

I am an example of this. For years I didn’t love my Axe FX 3 and then I realized that I was failing to activate lots of the time-delay effects, and now it is something that sounds quite good. This is stupidity on my part that borders on embarrassing, so let this be a lesson to everyone that is unhappy with their modeler.

lol Well, I definitely will NOT buy a preset - where’s the fun in that? Dang it - I’ll die by the sword and make my own tones! lol to each their own though!

The Helix is a superb piece of kit. Used it at last night’s band practice, and it was quite excellent. Very fun, sounded fine I thought.

One of the main reasons I’ve struggled with amp modelers, is the time it takes to learn how to use and get the BEST out of them. Sure, the basics are straightforward, but there is deep learning curve to get professional results.

So… I do both. With 3rd party presets, I get the benefit of great tones, created by advanced users so I can focus on practice and playing. Plus, you can learn a lot from how advanced users set up their presets, when building your own.
