Currious About this site and what it is

Thank you. I will check that out now and compare to what started doing!

EDIT: Holy Cow that is cool video here with A, B, C. User Video Player Page – Cracking the Code

the way I normally do my hand is kind of allll of them minus the part of the C so I am in pronation. When I kind of really lean into C my hand comes up into supination!

Now I cannot pick very good like that atleast not yet but that matched up in explanation really well. stilll reading through the post and stuff but so far that was really cool.

in this video this is exactly how I do when my hand is pronated and that angle carries way over the strings in a downward escape clearing them no issues.

More I supinate more that sends it into the strings trapping which is what we want from what I was told for upx. Only thing I will add is I tend to use my forearm alot more in the pronation as well when I am trying play faster. I thought I was more wrist but I seem to be heavy combination of both.

I keep editing this post as I see more:

your post is actually great and really related I started following it.

I have ordered magnet yesterday but have not received its cooll there is video for andriod and iphones I have one each one home one work so good to see there is videos on each.

I also some more videos here.

TylerWysong’s TC helped me with DSX motion/setup. He uploaded two killer vids, one for DSX and one for USX. I’m planning big a strat like him so I just copied his setup and I’ve been making progress

is that on this site or in youtube or a private site?? "TylerWysong’s TC " Sorry so overwhelmed by all the acronyms I still getting DSX and UPX confused with USX ect… been ton of information into my brain over last few months.

You’ll want to scroll down to TC Directory for all MiM public critiques when on platform. I find it helpful to see others motions and setups and current issues

oh ok I see that is a subject topic area Technical Critique. thanks

You will want what your membership allows: a critique from the CtC team: https://troygrady.com/dashboard/tc/ you can find other public critiques here https://troygrady.com/dashboard/tc-directory/

I did submit one but continue to watch some videos. llook at what is said here:

Wonder if I am ok with my pronated wrist doing UPX and it just looks strange to people as they are use to seeing supinated forearm when doing UPX so they think oh he is doing it wrong.

However, I was doing 160BPM UPX with 16th notes. I was under assumption if you go very fast and your hitting those upwards escape motions with a hand that around wrist joint that more naturally relaxes then it would seem your doing UPX and just need to continue to improve on the technique.

so confusing llloll

I am not familiar with Mike Stern nor influenced by him but this guy has his hand pronated just like I do and he holds pick similar and just like me he pic angle and even how he holds pick is same as me. I just found this guy watching video and saw this.

I was playing UPX hitting the downstroke at 150BPM when switch string I thought also that was fast enough speed it starts to show. Just makes me wonder if the Instructor of Yngwie course saw my hand positioning and since it fit the general template for DSX assumed it was a DSX position and it probably is but also it might be able to be a UPX hand positioning for me as long as I am changing pick angle so its not not escaping downwards but is escaping upwards just very shallow because of the pronation of my arm.

Could it be I adapted my pronation naturally to this unconsciously to do what is needed? If that was the case wouldn’t it be ok to use that style I developed naturally to play Yngwie stuff as long as its not inefficient and it works?

I am newbie of course this could all be crap theory but after watching this it warrants a question at the very least.

I mean even doing DSX scales with my DSC positioning my scales dont sound any better because I am beginner and hand syncing is just starting I am in my infancy but thinking maybe the pronation is not bad I just need to get better at everything.

Dont get wrong I seem to be learning the new hand position of traditional. UPX as well but why start over again if its not needed?

edited: I dunno went listened to the guy on youtube his stuff is not like Yngwie not long classical runs. I dunno if makes difference or not just saw his pronation was close enough to mine in the Cracking code that could be identical in generally sense to my untrained eyes.

I dunno I am going to watch this on Yngwie the Volcano. Seems llike I read something and get thought and bouncing around which I guess is natural as you slam around in the wallls of your container trying to figure things out.

Interesting thing is. In my journey to learn UPX and I am not fully successful yet though, I have gotten some of the arm positioning down, my regular picking has exploded.

Here I am trying to change all my picking so crazy focused on trying get a bit of supination in my arm and trying to look at dart throwing motion instead of revere dart throwing motion.

All these new things I am trying has almost doubled my speed and clarity starting to get better to. Now sad news is I still will switch over doing a upstroke allot instead of a downstroke on string change in a Yngwie sequence but I my natural picking and stuff seems to be increasing at crazy path in just few days.

So not sure how my UPX will go buy my playing is going crazy. Odd how can fail and get annoyed so press even harder and push even harder and still fail but start winning and making big gains in another way.

I have not given up on UPX but at same time if I can play a score of music at increasingly faster speeds and I adjust naturally(correct or not) to be able to play it. Have a long way to go I am noobie but failing upwards is not that bad of a thing lol.

I would like to get instructor can work with at some point but I seem to be adjusting through need to accomplish a task. I tend to be like pinball bouncing hitting pulling info from where ever I can get it to try and archive understanding. Music a hobby for me but I gave up gaming so it now takes up most of my free time so its important hobby and I enjoy challenges and successes and while not fond of falling down it seems like that is where you really start learning when you fight through adversity.
