Economy Picking vs Alternate

So here I am back 1 year later! and totally 2 years after starting my journey with Economy Picking, becoming a shredder, and main goal to Play Yngwie!

And the reason I keep coming back here is just to encourage and show that everything is possible! I turned 40 this year and 2 years ago I the fastest I could play was probably Nothing else matter solo

Here are below some videos of my my progress! and I’ve completely adapted Yngwie’s technique which is One way economy with doing pull off to always land on a down stroke. I’ve still got a long way to go and will never stop this path!!

Dude, you sound GREAT! Vibrato in particular sounds really good to me, which is often neglected but necessary to sell the song.

Agreed, you’re sounding awesome! Posts like these kind of make me want to abandon the “alternate pick everything” quest for one-way economy. lol

You had mentioned dealing with some tendonitis before - have you been able to stay healthy since? What changes to your form do you think may have helped, or caused issues?

1 way Economy is the best method ever! it’s very very underrated IMO

Regarding tendonities, wrong practicing technique, being too stiff, and forcing things with excessive force like picking through strings etc caused it for me.

no it hasn’t gone away, but I would say 80-90% healed. Some days it flares and I can’t play anything good. The ony thing that worked for me is massaging the whole arm everyday and started excercising/lifting weights.

And I just continued practicing guitar through it all the time. Some days it sucks so I took it easy and slow on those days.

I appreciate the information, and wish you continued healing!
