Frank Gambale's pick

What brand of picks did Gambale use in the interview?

@Troy posted about it in the Gambale Interview thread, see below:

Edit: Post embedding cut out the link that @Troy posted:

Well, my bulk purchase arrived today, and I like them! (Which I suppose is a good thing.) Had steered away from bigger picks in the past.

The print on them is more understated than as shown in preview, and I think I like them better for that. That is, assuming I was sent the correct item.

Thanks!
And are they medium or heavy?

The thing about those triangle picks with that kind of a pick is that I find the extra bulk of the tip slows me down a little as I’m so used to playing sharper tips for so long! How are you finding it for speed?

Well for context of opinion, I played with custom Kradl picks for most of two decades (Denver based guitar wizard Randy Chavez, of Convergence, Opie Gone Bad, R. Chavez Amplification, etc., turned me on to them), switching to the little 3mm jazz Stubby for tone in context. Then I started playing with angle of attack a la CtC to approximate the thicker tip, just using plain old Fender mediums. Been in a transitional phase since, reaching for Primetone Jazz III’s, and enjoying the stiletto sharp Petrucci model for speed practice. Blah, blah, blah… Still on first impressions with the Gambale preferred pick, but mine is that the pick wants to sweep.

I doubt this one will make you abandon what you are working with now, but first impressions with texture and feel were more pleasant than expected. First triangle pick that I’ve felt comfortable with. They just arrived yesterday afternoon so…

Slightly thicker than a Fender medium, slight less thick than a Dunlop heavy? Just ordered straight from @Troy’s link.

The Kradl pick looks cool, kind of like a Dunlop teardrop pick! I’m gonna have to track some down and buy them to add to my collection.

I have some of the Planet Waves triangle picks but they’re not for me sadly.

I bought much of the last available from guitar shops here in Denver, but I’m sure there are still some floating around to find/try! Their main feature is the special grip. And they were molded in ribbed and not-ribbed, so you might need to track down one of each.

I have just bought a pack of ten of the Planet Waves plectrums. Mine are in Jackson Pollock splatters!

Strangely I hadn’t noticed they are symmetrical, so you get three tips for the price of one.

And it is true, they are good for sweeping.
