It’s not supposed to be visually aesthetic. It’s supposed to sound good. Stop listening with your eyes. Use efficient hand motions to make your solos sound better. That goes for both picking AND fretting.
I hear ya but I can’t help to be conscious about it.
Same thing with good looking electric guitars - I will often choose the better looking guitar over the better playing guitar because I just like owning and playing good looking guitars.
But don’t get me wrong I do spend time constantly working on my sound and my approach.
Like I’m a huge fan of Marty Friedman’s playing but I completely hate watching him play.
i think that having the sound come out but your hands don’t look like they’re moving much is really cool.
someone said that to me once, and I took it as one of the greatest compliments I’d had.
I get what you mean though. It’s something that looks great to other musicians but it’s not flashy and all that. I’d be impressed though
