Noise in Guitar DI

Next week I will have another guitar and another interface to try. But I don’t think it’s the signal, The strongest is about -1,5dB… It has to be some related to the strings I think… Thanks!

When I first got Tonex I had a lot of problems with a great buzzing and crackling noise after a few minutes of starting my computer. I was only able to play for around 2 minutes or so and then this almighty noise commenced.

I got with IK Customer Service and they told me to delete the app and reinstall and the problem was solved. I’m not sure if your problem sounded exactly the same as mine, but you might consider giving that a try or you might try IK Customer Service…they were very responsive and helpful to me.

Thanks for the answer. You mean the Tonex desktop app or Tonex One pedal? I am actually using the Tonex one Gear. In order to try if it’s the app I will need to plug the guitar into another interface that I don’t have right now. Now It happens monitoring directing from pedal and also using it as interface with Tonex app.

Tuesday I am back home and I can try it in the focusrite. Then I will check if it’s a problem of my unit/software or the guitar.

Thanks for feedback!

The sound to me sounds like a distorted bleed-through not so much a mechanical buzz like say from fretting out, nor electrical “buzz”like you would hear if a ground loop were present. Those manifest in very different ways. This sounds like it is more on the processing side where you are getting some unwanted coupling of the processed audio mixed back into the DI feed at a low level, which is why you are only hearing it when you are playing, but could also be a very small possibility it could be happening within in the active preamp built into the guitar pickup.

The reason why I ask if you could try it with a different guitar with passives was more because it is a simple thing to do in the process of elimination. If it is still there after switching you know it’s likely not stemming from the instrument. The other thing this does is eliminate another active electrical system from the chain since you will be using something with passives.
