For some reason I can’t hear the influence of Blackmore. I see influence in his appearance - to me anyway. But I don’t notice similarity in his guitar solos - although I did in very early Yngwie demos pre 1980. Am I missing something?
I can hear fragments of Uli’s influence in Yngwie’s playing such as this:
I would say the influence of Blackmore is heard more in Blackmore’s Rainbow work when he adopted more neoclassical flavorings to his playing.
Definitely Rainbow. There’s hints of it in Purple, but those first 3 Rainbow albums definitely lay down the framework…
“Kill the King”, “Stargazer”, “A Light in the Black” and “Gates of Babylon” alone are pretty much proto neoclassical before Yngwie.
