@Drew Here’s a hint to two of my biggest influences as a player and the two guitars I will never sell God willing. Speaking of two players that are instantly identifiable.
I’m drawing a blank here…
The Strat could be any number of people, but I tend to associate the 70s headstock with Zappa. And SG’s to a degree, along with Iommi or Trucks. I can’t think of too many other SG players off the top of my head lol
Tony Iommi and Billy Corgan
Not even Angus Young? Lol! He’s probably the only SG player I can think of without really digging deep.
Pretty sure Josh Middleton plays an SG sometimes. It’s made me GAS for one lately, but never going to trust Gibson QC sight-unseen.
Aw crap!! How could I forget him… this is why I don’t make lists lol
Ah nice, Iommi I got from the black SG with the inverted crosses, but I honestly wasn’t sure from the strat with mini bladed humbuckers - I remember Corgan used Lace Sensors (Red?) for the longest time, but I have no idea what he uses these days.
I mostly play one f three guitars, a US Strat with Suhr ML Standard singlecoils, and then a pair of Suhrs, a Modern 7 with a PAF Pro 7 neck and Blaze 7 bridge, and a Modern 6 with the stock Thornbuckers but a PAF Pro and an AT1 on the bench waiting to go in. All through a Mark V. Doesn’t really give away any of my major influences, though, aside from Timmons I suppose - Satriani, Timmons, Nick Johnston lately… Satch is easily the biggest, but I guess I just have a wildly different preference in guitar tone…
His Fender sig had custom DiMarzio blade humbuckers in the bridge and neck and they are voiced in a super unique way with lots of low end response and a DiMarzio Chopper in the middle. 5 way switch with the 2 and 4 positions having split coils between the middle and respective pickups. And it’s string through, basically every thing I wanted in a Strat. And of course 70s headstock which all my favorite strat players play. Malmsteen, Blackmore, Uli.
I didn’t know Luke Skywalker played guitar!!
Oh wow… did I screw up haha My sincerest apologies to all of them.
Trauma will do that.
In a way - Holdsworth was like Jeff Beck. Singular in approach and impossible to copy.
