just to add my 2cents. That 2nps pattern across all 6 strings is like an 8 out of 10 for difficulty.
IMO its simply not efficient to spend a lot of time struggling with that. Each set of 2 strings is almost like a totally different challenge. For example the hand positions etc on the E and A are totally different than on the B and E…and you are frustrated because you cant master it all at once?
Personally id break it down into a 2 or maybe 3 string thing. if u cant get some smooth speed going on 2 or 3 strings how are you going to get it on 6?
Id try one of these 2 triplet loopable patterns. My guess is that you’ll find one easier than the other:
inside
G—5–7--5-----------
D--------------7–5--7
outside
G-------------5–7--5
D—7–5--7-----------
on either of those you are getting 3 notes worth of time to switch the pickslant.
of course there are other patterns that dont involve changing slants at all. Those are also good to test out. Walk first, then run
G-----------------5–7 (shift positions)–9--7-------------
D----------5–7-------------------------------------9–7-------
A----5–7--------------------------------------------------9–7 (shift back down, loop forever)
But as others have said…how is your speed on just one note tremolo picking? not that u need a massive top speed on it but if you dont have a smooth motion there then its not logical that youd be able to smoothly do that nasty 2nps-across-all-string-pattern
Then the tried and true Yngwie (or Joe Stump) 6 note pattern. its a classic and has REALLY helped me get a smooth and fast motion after years of just being so so.
a progression might be:
- single string tremolo
- Yngwie 6 note
- Yngwie or similar 6 note with string change added, for example:
B------------------------7–5--7–8--7–5
G—7–5--7–8--7–5--------------------- loop

Then maybe an easy 1 way slanting lick for 3nps stuff like a Gilbert sixes lick

Then maybe an easy version of a 3nps 2 way lick, for example this is a 10 note pattern so it may feel weird to loop it but it gives u plenty of time in between pickslant changes. I just count this in 16ths like 1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4,1,2 loop
E--------------5–7--8–7--5--------
B----5–7--8-------------------8–7-- loop
id say after u have a handle on that stuff. THEN worry about speeding thru the 2nps stuff across all strings.
