That would be crazy work if he actually has been faking that speed.
Although there seems to be older live videos of him playing in group settings while still demonstrating that speed so now I’m curious about what the reality is.
He’s not faking his playing he can actually play that fast but he did mime along to some videos and pretended he was playing a few years ago, I believe Troy and some others challenged him on it in discussion in the forum.
I think his technique is RDT, I don’t think you can use forearm rotation quite that fast but I’ve also seen him claim his technique isn’t RDT, dismissing Troy entirely. I don’t think he understands that Dart Thrower and Reverse Dart Thrower are just terms created by researchers used to describe two ways in which the wrist can move super fast

In his videos it looks a lot like forearm rotation.
But it’s funny if he’s dismissing reverse dart throwing while simultaneously claiming Troy “stole” the concept from him.
He clearly has a chip on his shoulder for some bizarre reason. Every post is either a dig at Troy/CTC or an elitist take. He sounds like rubbish, anyway, listen to an acoustic clip to see what I mean.

It’s weird that he has some kind of grudge against Troy - it’s not like Marchbank has some substantial career to speak of that Troy is somehow infringing upon lol.
I also agree that the playing is so fast and with that super close to the bridge picked tone that it’s borderline comical to listen to, but in all fairness I have heard some things he’s played that were respectable from a musical standpoint.
He blocked me for suggesting that 1.5 second clips filmed on a potato in a dim room weren’t really going to definitively show what he’s doing or whether he’s really doing it. He makes these Troy rants, plays a run one time and immediately cuts to another take of doing it slow, with nothing in between. So nobody really has long enough to figure out what they’re seeing.
From lurking years ago, I think he and his missus were pushing for a feature interview on CTC and when several clips were debunked as midi miming, he had a big cry and has been whining ever since.
Edit: oh that’s right - he blocked me on another platform when he was saying CTC stole his technique and renamed it Reverse Dart Thrower, and I merely pointed out that it was an existing kinetic term and I’m pretty sure the entire kinesiology community has no interest in stealing his picking technique.

His live playing is so much worse then his pre recorded stuff.
Def. fake playing on a lot of those edited clips.
Troy pointed this out a few years ago and Riy admitted that there was editited stuff which he was miming in those clips.
Still he claims he can play all that stuff live but i have never heard him do so
He can move crazy fast but what he plays live is not even close to some of the stuff on the clips.
I would lose zero sleep about it over you. It’s the internet. Go play a guitar.

I was saying, as gently as possible, that I don’t think anything about this exchange, and that it’s not worth giving even the amount of time it takes to sart a thread on a guitar forum about. Who cares what Roy thinks, it honestly doesn’t matter, and if he wants to block you on social media for this, you’re probably better off for it.

I think you may have misread here. This Roy thing has been coming up every so often for years now. I think we’re all tired of it. Which is probably all Drew was saying. Try not to mock the regulars.
On Roy: Cool technique - alongside many videos where the hands obviously don’t match the sounds. Both things can be true. I have told him so directly, right here on the forum, in as positive a way as I know how. I have zero animus toward him and wish him the best.

Ok fair enough, didn’t know it was some played out topic. But Drew had a condescending tone from the start so I replied as I saw fit.
Roy is a funny case because he’s likely one of the fastest guitarist in the world - but it’s due to the genetic component of having above average fast twitch muscles in his forearm not because of any revolutionary technique he developed, so I just found it notable and funny that he was directly accusing you of stealing his “ideas”.
I don’t know much about Roy, but it would be really cool to see Troy do an analysis based on some Magnet footage.
Seems doubtful that Roy would accept given his antagonistic attitude towards Troy.
I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt on your previous posts, and simply say that no, I was absolutely not trying to be condescending, and I’m sorry it didn’t come across that way. I just don’t see much value in worrying about social media interactions, and as @Troy pointed out, this certainly isn’t the first time.
