Hi, @Troy! Yesterday I was watching one of your videos and I noticed how you hold the pick. I tried to copy that and my picking became more accurate and also I was able to block my fingers so they don’t move while I’m picking. Please, describe more about how you hold the pick. I haven’t understood it completely yet.
Plz help!
I can’t figure out how to do UWPS almost for 6 months. It feels so weird for me. When I am thinking about not to hit the strings I usually miss them. But when I try to do less wrist extension I hit the strings.
Also I can’t figure out hand position. I re-watch “how to achieve UWPS” over and over and still…
Please take my feedback with a grain of salt because I’m no pro, but it looks pretty good overal! It does seem to me like your hand’s resting orientation is somewhat neutral though (not a bad thing at all), and then it looks like you rotate it more substantially during the string changes. I do this too when I use UWPS, and it feels laborious and awkward to me when I do (DWPS is way more comfortable to me). Try experimenting with keeping a more pronounced UWPS orientation throughout the lick and see how that feels. Also, based on the slow motion footage, it seems to me like the path of the pick is somewhat orthogonal at times rather than straight. In that sense your picking motion resembles crosspicking at times (not a bad thing at all!), rather than pickslanting all the way through. So maybe shuttling between crosspicking and UWPS makes it feel weird, as you say. Try focusing on the path of the pick and experiment with how you can make it straight - doing that aways makes these licks feel smoother to me.
Hope that helps!
Thank’s a lot!
I hope it will help me.
