Unlock the Rock!  Introducing Metronomic Rock DSX

Congratulations Tommo and the CTC team! This program is just brilliant! It is fun, musically enjoyable, and the best of all, absolutely achievable!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who suddenly found the keys to their Lamborghini thanks to this fantastic content.

I recently found out that I’m a DSX player and I’ve seen the videos of the "famous " players who also are. But I’m curious, my favorite player and biggest influence is George Lynch ,which picking style is he?

The joint motion is reverse dart wrist motion. Flat arm position, just the hand going back and forth. When you see this, and there is no obvious “evens” patterning in the vocabulary, it’s usually just trapped motion or an escape that’s not being used.

It probably doesn’t matter. George never played pick-all-the-notes vocabulary in any systematic way. Occasional examples like the “In My Dreams” lick I think are mostly spray-and-pray one offs. The picking was just for a little spicy flavor, not the main dish.

I love George’s playing of course. Among the most original players from that era with instantly recognizable tone and articulation.

Hi Troy,
Thanks for the response. Do you think you’ll ever interview George and maybe analyze his playing?
I’ve always found his playing unique and tone unmatched by anyone, which is usually what draws my attention to certain players. I think it would be an incredible experience and I’d love to see his picking under the magnet.
