What is swiping?

I can hear the extra scratchy sounds in the “frenzy” solo posted above, but to me this still sounds great!

To my ears, the scratchy swipe emphasizes the accents of the “paul gilbert lick”, a bit like the rake is used to emphasize certain notes in blues solos. Ok this is most probably an accidental thing, but it seems to work for this piece.

Ho yes, that would be so, so great. Especially to bring non aficionados to learning about the CtC approach.

So is the formal definition that starts as a rested pick and goes through one or more somewhat muted strings (almost like strumming) to finally hit the string of interest?

I try to use the same limited motions at every speed so I don’t like it when things show up only on a magnet, shouldn’t they be done at low speeds as well, and planned for?
