I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of synths were used on albums like Maximum Security and Malmsteen records?
A copy of Arturia’s V collection and any of the 80s poly synths should put you in that territory.
As for Jens Johansson, it’s all about the Korg Polysix.
The Oberheim Matrix-12 is seen a lot on stage in 80s Yngwie vids.
I can’t find it now but I remember reading how he uses more modern synths live now for reliability but the sounds are mostly recreations of his patches from the Korg and Oberheim.
His lead patch has remained the template for most metal keyboardists going forward as it cuts through the mix and works really well for duels with the lead guitar.
That type of lead can be made on almost any synth.
