Imaginary numbers do exist. By definition, when squared the result is negative. ‘Imaginary’ is just a name.
All numbers are made up. Since they are not physical objects but concepts, that does not mean they don’t exist.

mmmmm
Turns out that there are ways in which we can look for evidence of extra dimensions, it’s not just “could be true and we’d never know.” Most theories that use them do so because they help solve other problems in physics.
So far, we have found none of the possible evidence, so far as I know.
The imaginary numbers thing is a canard. Mathematics is a (very useful) mental construct. The putative extra dimensions are not.
I wouldn’t say they are not. Perhaps for the current perspective on physics. And in many ways, dimensions that you can’t physically point to won’t have evidence, it’ll be where there is a lack of evidence, or something disappearing from “existence”

There are only theories on how some think we may be able to based on the construct of the theory itself or whether it holds to be true.

Well I think maybe some of the more nuanced philosophical aspect was lost in what I was trying to get at, but what makes one a canard and the other not, or rather what makes one a useful mental construct to solve a problem and the other not a mental construct to solve a problem.

That is certainly one of the current thoughts on the matter. However it tends to break some of the long held scientific dogma that a lack of evidence doesn’t equal evidence.
Anyway discussions like these that delve into the more heavy handed scientific and philosophical aspects kinda bum me out. I like reading the creepier first hand experiences.
I like reading the creepier first hand experiences.
like what?
I’m interested in the fringe stuff, thats where breakthroughs are made.
I believe we have everything we need in our mind to realize reality with out the Bible, Koran, Torah, Bhagavad Gita etc… Science… Bhagavad Gita was pretty cool, tho lot of I’m the best ever, the light, the soul, the thought and so on… it’s like comon man…
All got legit ideas, and a lot of lol comon stuff.
I think our mind can do it all. Though thats my personal belief.
I really am a hardcore scientific lover, but it’s so boring and slow, and the religions are all I’m the best ever… Ego in many ways. Though thats my perspective atm…
You need to have others to make life worth living, being alone or the best is literal hell. Takes two to tango right…
Like for example this
I’m skeptical of this but its fun The laser burrowing is perhaps real tho… The other stuff besides him being hardcore usa is, at least strange, stuff to keep in mind. I believe in the USA and the Constitution a Lot. Dispite being ironically English. I am also ignorent of a lot of it. I understand the basics but need to fully read it all. And fully understand it before I say something like that…
Just like like clicking I accept on a website without reading the small text…
I used to be interested in UFO’s and all the conspiracy stuff since the 70’s - but in modern times, it seems it’s turned into a career option and the whole thing is like sinister fog cloud - hard to see what’s actually interesting and what’s a $$$$$ attractor!
It’s like anything tho, take it all in and use your own honesty, spirit, experience, to guide you though the nonsense.
There’s only 2 cases that interest me: That JAL flight and the NZ lights thing (was broadcast on BBC radio in the 70’s scary stuff!). The rest of the stuff - it’s all a bit too much $$$$ oriented for me.
can you give youtube videos?
And on the cash aspect I understand, tho david grusch is not doing podcasts, making a book etc, at least for now, I don’t see how he’s making any money besides legit exposing himself to attack. And one major thing in his favor is he’s literally testified in congress. Thats never happened before…
JAL flight: (there are many many vids about this)
NZ thing is:
The Kaikoura lights is a name given by the New Zealand media to a series of UFO sightings that occurred in December 1978, over the skies above the Kaikoura mountain ranges in the northeast of New Zealand's South Island. The first sightings were made on 21 December when the crew of a Safe Air Ltd cargo aircraft began observing a series of strange lights around their Armstrong Whitworth AW.660 Argosy aircraft, which tracked along with their aircraft for several minutes before disappearing and the...
The recording from the film crew was broadcast on BBC radio in the 70’s - scared the crap out of me - wish I could find the recording.
I’ve seen this one, pretty intresting the pilot reports as they fly all the time and know what they’re looking at. How come you stopped caring about that stuff? Did you listen to the radio report live or was it a video?
Video - hahaha was in the 70’s dude, I heard it “live” on BBC radio - twas a friday night - probably around 10pm? It was big news at the time - hence the broadcast on BBC Radio. I don’t actually think it was “Live” just a fresh recording from the reporter - felt like it was live tho. I’ve followed the UFO stuff for a long long time - 70’s,80’s, 90’s e.t.c. and honestly there’s been nothing ground breaking for a long time (phoenix lights was probably the last biggy). And you after a while you see the UFO career $$$$ circuit, same old people rock up with some bonkers vid e.t.c. it’s was really fun in the 90’s riding off the X-Files thing - UFO magazine got huge in the UK and fortean times and all that good stuff. Everything just seems much more diluted and nothing interesting at all, just some half baked potato video or some really sketchy laughable stuff “RODS” lol. You know we’ve had super high res cameras for 10+ years now in huge huge amounts and spread across the planet (mobile phone) and nothing !! - so yeah it’s got really boring for me. Much more interesting in simulation theory and all that good stuff.
I’ve noticed a lot of that too the ufo career thing. One thing that bothered me about the hearing was Jeremy corbell was there, he’s shared some terrible videos before that were obviously not ufos and dispite being shown they are not never apologies for it. But then you kinda need someone who is connected to loads of people to get everyone together, I am still skeptical of it all, but the fact it’s literally in congress is something thats never happened before as far as I know?
And ofcourse the classic I want to believe so can be led into it all far easier, though I do believe lol even though I’m skeptical, weird contradiction right. Untill theres some proper hard evidence its probably never going to worry most people. But It still really interests me. You don’t find the congress hearing intresting at all?
Not followed the congress thing - too busy with guitar/code/zelda and chilling out hahaha. Since the advent of the internet as we know it - there’s just so so so much for the curious mind to follow, and most of it is a dead $$$$ end. Before the net - BBS’s had all this stuff - usually in a txt file and it was fun. Now with you tube there’s literally a 100 lifetimes worth of fringe curiosities - it’s impossible to follow it all - overwhelming. Yeah in a similar vein - I’m just really wanted for a video where aliens rock out and say hello - until then I’m busy with other stuff (zelda hahaha). Anyhow today I had a big guitar breakthru - I finally understand USX and DSX - w00t took me some time
I understand. Aliens keep me sane while hammering away at these horrible essays I have to do for uni, please Aliens take over earth so I don’t have to do this shit lol
What Zelda are you playing? I loved the windwaker
Yeah the alien/conspiracy stuff it’s interesting - lol@essay procrastination.
Zelda - Tears of the kingdom - it’s damn good - I skipped BOTW - in Tears they really nailed the building mechanic and it’s so much fun - this game has made me laugh so much (when your building turns into a disaster haha). They managed to hide a lot of grinding and kind of change how RPG quests work - damn good. It’s been a good year for games so far - System shock remake and Tears are outstanding. I normally don’t get time to play the games, but since I have time off work - it’s been fun fun fun!
Apparently botw was really good, looks good to me anyway. The last Zelda game I played was literally the wind waker on the gamecube. botw looks great tho. I’ll check out tears of the kingdom, I like watching playthroughs.
