Andy James - song suggestions?

Forgive the off-topic. I am also a primary UWPS player and have thought about learning some AJ stuff for a while. Would you be able to suggest some kind of entry level song that I could try to learn? Possibly without 15-finger tapping :-D.

PS: to avoid cluttering this topic you can reply by PM if you want… or ignore

No problem, I split this into a new topic, feel free to edit the post / title as you see fit

Also FYI (for everyone!) it’s actually possible to make a reply to any post be a new topic — it’s kind of a hidden power user feature, but when you hit reply, click the arrow in the far upper left of the composer, and you’ll see the option to “reply as linked topic”, as well as an option to create a PM in response to a public post.

Hello I think your request is cool and we all want new material to break from routine, however I don’t have any song in mind that’s fits that requirement. In my opinion some exercises (scale runs and licks) would be better to work on, since Andy James is also very melodic and a killer rhythm player.
I know about the crazy tapping and some other sick ideas Andy puts in his music I get what you say

When I get some I will gladly share them. In the meantime Troy has got us covered since many things Andy James does, amazingly are mentioned on the Antigravity Seminar and some other vids about how to invert Downward pick slanting.

For example, 2 notes per string pentatonics but starting with an upstroke and using your UWPS, or ascending/descending sixes again starting with an usptroke. Man! It amazes me how appropriate Is the term ANTIGRAVITY!

I am a new member f cracking the code but as soon as I get around all this I will share some stuff. I am liking a lot the cooperative vibe from members here.

In my opinion, while he is technically brilliant, Andy James’s writing isn’t that good.

However, he has a pack called Instalicks, which is a load of the licks he played on his Instagram page transcribed and you get videos for them too. You can get this from his website - https://andyjamesguitaracademy.com/instalicks/

You can get tabs for his Sacred Mother Tongue album also, https://andyjamesguitaracademy.com/product-library/

This is more song based and is more tuneful than his solo stuff in my opinion.

Brilliant, thanks a lot!

What band does he play for? I’ve never heard of him so I want to hear what his band sounds like. What are a couple of their most popular songs? Thanks.

Wearing Scars and Sacred Mother Tongue.

They’re not that popular to be honest:

Each to their own of course but I really like his latest solo album Exodus which has excellent writing IMO:

I haven’t heard that one to be honest with you. I will give a listen now that you have linked it.
