Old thread, but in case anyone else gets here from search: I just assembled the Magnet myself, and have to say, the instructions are OUTSTANDING in how meticulously they are put together. The parts list has order links to everything including tools.
Total cost to me was ~$200 all-in. Total time was ~3 hours, with no prior DIY experience. The Magnet turned out great, and I just took the first video of my picking.
Huge thanks everyone who put in the effort to these plans so complete.
