It’s based on an nickname a friend gave me many years ago, and I “leeted” up the spelling to make it more unique. Pronounced “nimbles”, it might sound a bit presumptuous (there are plenty of guys who play circles around me) but there’s one good thing about it: I never have the issue of, “username is already taken” anywhere!
For 30 years, I played by picking from the elbow, primarily.
(In fact, 3 years back, I decided to revamp my entire technique, including my left (fingering) hand, I used to always play like a classical player with my wrist held out away from the neck. Now I play more like a standard rock player, and it does give me a little more power and increased efficiency of finger movement. For legato though, I often still go “up on my toes” so to speak. )
As to the picking, I wanted to fine tune my movements there too. So I started picking from the wrist more, though not using DWPS, more like UWPS or NPS, no pick slant. Which of course has the string hop issue.
Then I stumbled onto CtC, and discovered the whole DWPS concept, (fantastic for even note per string runs) , but which for me was mostly unique in that it really requires the supination/pronation movement (rotation) of the wrist to fully implement well.
At first, this felt entirely alien to me. I had very little control, my hand was like a flopping fish out of water. It took 2 to 3 weeks before I started to get a handle on it, but since (2 years ago) that mechanic has opened all kinds of doors for me. I used to rely very heavily on my legato before, but for sheer power and attack the picked approach can’t be beat, and my alternate picking is much better.
I’m still working on the economy, hybrid, and sweep picking, that has a few miles to go.
All in all, CtC has been the best technical resource I’ve ever come across.
