Attractive youtube female guitars players are usually not that good however

THIS one is strangely good. Look at that wrist technique in this video.

I’ve seen Alice Izzy’s playing before and always thought the hands looked a little sped up/unnatural looking in a way that fast players who post live playing like Chris Brooks and Andy Wood’s never does.

Is it just badly mimed or am I seeing things?

For the sake of balance, I’d like it to be recognised that attractive male YouTube guitarists usually aren’t that good either.

I think that’s just the video recording format, I’ve seen numerous videos and she seems legit

She studied with Prof. Stump, so I’m sure that she must be the real deal. The question is, can she form a band and claw back territory from pop and rap music that currently has no guitar solos? I’m crossing my fingers for her and all of us, really…

What’s so strange about about a girl being good at guitar?

jfc people, this is at least 40% of why guitar is so dominated by men, stop being weirdos

The truth is that from the beginning, men and women have used their beauty to attract more attention, and not only beauty, but also money or, in our case, super expensive equipment. And that’s normal. It’s normal to feel attracted to a video that seems more professional or just because it shows a super modern guitar, and often the guys who use this trick are bad at playing the guitar, like Giacomo Turra, who has the best instruments, equipment, and of course the best video and audio editing, etc…

So there will always be cases where women will use their beauty to stand out in something, but it’s no different for men, men are even more “creative”.
The thing is that we men don’t find other men beautiful, right? Haha But women find men attractive too. So it’s normal for women to like videos where handsome men play the guitar or other instruments, and that’s never been a problem.
So I don’t think that’s the case with the girl in the video, since she seems to play very well!
And not only her, many women are as good as men, such as Molly Tuttle, Lari Basilío, Juliette Valduriez (who is one of my influences), Nili Brosh, and others…

And also, if you go a little further, the guitar is a relatively “new” instrument compared to others, such as the violin and piano. So if you research the best musicians, some women will be on the list.
To this day, the person who has played closest to Franz Lizst’s skills is Martha Argerich, and of course she is a woman! So don’t underestimate a woman with the instrument. Every case is a different case.

Thank you for the most necessary comment in this thread.

I’m living proof that the unattractive ones are no exception!

Look I’m an old, I have the baggage. I know where this sentiment comes from. But unless you’ve been living under a rock since 1986, who even thinks this any more? This is a world where Molly Tuttle and Sierra Hull exist, after all.

This was always just a misperception based on selection bias, thanks to looks being used to sell stuff. It never had anything to do with skills or who has them.

I’m not super duper thrilled that we have threads like this on our forum. But even Shredmaster Scott did a couple of videos on this recently, so whaddya gonna do? I guess this is still a thing.

I don’t like where this logic is headed!

You’re clearly the exception @Troy.

My point was just that Alice is good by any reckoning.
