B DU BU DU strum pattern played with rest stroke on bass

Hello everyone. I play this i believe very common strum pattern with rest stroke on bass to obtain a lot of volume (i usually play in hotels, without amplification) and have a good control to pick the right string. It works very well on a pattern like this: B DU B DU. The problem comes as you can imagine, when you use downslanting to achieve rest stroke, and you have to pluck the strings on the upstroke after the second B.
B DU BU DU. IN that moment you loose fluidity, and it’s impossible to gain high speed on some fast country rhythms using this pattern, also in shuffle version.

I’m sure i have to change technique, at least on second B.

Can you help me please?

Post a video and you’ll probably get some great responses.

Yeah, you’ll probably want to change the second bass note to a DSX/upward slant to be able to play the strum following it. And it may be easier to change both bass notes - you don’t have to play a rest stroke (e.g., trap the pick) to get the required volume with a downward escape. The rest stroke just stops you from playing unwanted strings when picking hard, but you bypass them altogether when using a downward escape technique.
