Beyond Slominsky: Melodic Patterns For Guitar

I saw a Steve Lukather video and he mentioned this book. I found out that it is available on Archive.org and it is full of great outside lines and phrases, all in tablature. I figured some of you might get a kick out of it and find some use for it. I believe that Slominksy’s Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns was a big favourite of Buckethead’s.

I downloaded the pdf version and I randomly pick a page and play something from it. If I like what I’m hearing, then I highlight the phrase using the highlighter tool on Preview on the Mac.

Enjoy!

Nice, I’m familiar with the original but haven’t seen this guitar specific version of it. Another great resource in a similar area is the Yusef Lateef Repository of Scales & Melodic Patterns. He was a colleague of Coltrane, and this book is kinda the product of working with Trane on how to apply Slonimsky’s concepts to jazz improvisation.
