I can’t recommend the Rusty Cooley swiss picks enough. Only thing besides Blue Chip I’ve found that legitimately doesn’t wear.
Since this thread was bumped, I’ve been on an acoustic cick lately, and I AM curious about these. I couldn’t justify, well, honestly it eas the wait list as much as the price, but as a first step I grabbed one of those Martin Luxe picks for acoustic use, and I just leave it in my case while not playing.
It IS definitely showing some slight wear though, after a few weeks.
Get one! I have four haha, get one every year for Christmas
They really don’t wear but make sure you get one that has speed bevels as that’s what makes the feel so nice, I got their version of a Jazz III which doesn’t have them and although it doesn’t wear, it’s way more scratchy like a normal pick especially on acoustic.
ToneSlabs are also great premium flatpicking picks, definitely more attack without being scratchy, supposedly sounds closer to shell but I’ve never played with the real thing.
Also heard people say Dunlop Primetone’s are good for acoustic but never used one myself, another honourable mention would be the Dunlop 207 Jazztone that Molly Tuttle uses and Billy Strings used to use
The Primetones are just Ultex though, right? I like Ultex, but I wear down Ultex Flow 1.0s often enough so it’s not really a “buy it and use it for years” alternative either.
The Luxe shows sliiiight wear, but (especially for acoustic use) less by far than I’d expect from Ultex.
Sorry, but you can’t compare polycarbonate (Swiss Picks material), which is an affordable engineering plastic, with Vespel ( material Blue Chip) which is a premium highly expensive polymide.
