Buddy is asked about a range of current topics, and he makes a point about learning licks from other people that evokes the old army saying popularized by Dwight Eisenhower: “Plans are worthless, but planning everything”.

On trying to imitate licks, Buddy said this:

I love this principle! And in fact I frequently apply it when I study the tunes of Vinnie Moore, Paul Gilbert & co.

With some passages you could spend a lifetime figuring out what they really did!
