This may be old news to the Allan Holdsworth and/or Charvel nerds out there, but it was new to me. At about 34m40s of the documentary linked below, one of the old Charvel employees (Henry Boyle) talks about working with Holdsworth to build a guitar to suit him. According to this, what ended up emerging as the “standard” neck geometry for Charvel’s shred guitars in their heyday arose from this trial and error with Allan Holdsworth to find something that suited him. Thanks for shairng this!
Awesome! While his music is beyond my comprehension, Alan might be the best choice for “the guitarist’s guitarist.” I mean, if EVH and YJM both love him, what more can be said?
I like my Current Charvels I have 2 Pro Mods, a So Cal and a Jake E lee .
Jake has said he played a couple Holdsworth models on his first tour with Ozzy than had Charvel make
his Blue and Purple Burst models with the slanted single coils.
