Cool unexpected magnet use

I teach a lot of zoom lessons, and have been finding the “magnet cam” really useful mid-lesson for a variety of things, even though I’ve only had it a few days.

The new Mac OS automatically connects the iPhone as an optional second webcam via Bluetooth, so it’s been cool to seamlessly switch between wide shots and close ups, and at times using the magnet for the closeups.

I know we think of it as the way to see escape paths and picking motions etc but for beginner students it’s actually a great angle for viewing much more basic stuff like “here’s what you do on this part” or “your hand should look like this.”

Especially cool for fingerstyle stuff because a lot of what goes on with the fingers hitting the strings is kind of hidden in the normal wide shot/front cam.

So far it’s been an awesome additional tool when normal demonstration/explanation isn’t cutting through so well.
