Some new stuff here. Fun!
there are some brilliants riffs in there! Thanks for this, itās great listening to these behind the scenes recordings.
There was only one thing on this channel that I had never heard before and neither had anyone I know and thatās the āMandolinā clip which had Edward noodling some riffs on an acoustic mandolin and then doing the same on an unplugged Norlin era red 335. Literally everything else on the channel has been previously available on YouTube for over a year or more.
Thanks Mr. Garber. Iāll do better next time
No worries! I didnāt know about this channel until a day after he first uploaded this stuff when one of my students alerted me to itā¦the āMandolin/Unplugged 335ā track was the first thing I went to and I was surprised to hear it! I sent it to Dweezil and Greg right away and when they said theyād never heard it I was intrigued.
I listened really closely because I was skeptical that it was Edward at all. The fidelity of the recording was so good that it made question the story in the āDescriptionā section of the video was correctā¦they maintained that it was something that he recorded at his parentās Las Lunas St. home, but the quality seemed to be too good for that.
Anyway, after several listens, the tone of the mandolin section (0:00-1:00) seemed consistent with the cheap deep bowl acoustic mandolin that Edward was photographed with in early January of 1980. Then the segment from 1:00 onward had the unmistakeable sound of a hollow or semi-hollow bodied guitar. Then that part of the recording ended with one of Edās patented behind the bridge rakes and the pitches match a Gibson Tune-O-Matic style bridge. The only hollow or semi-hollow that Eddie owned at the time was his red Norlin era ES-335 that he used to record the solo on āAnd the Cradle Will Rockā¦ā which he was also pictured with in early January 1980. Then the material itself also seemed musically consistent with Edā¦I canāt say it is him 100% without further absolutely conclusive evidence, but it is extremely likely that it is him in my opinion.
Who ever owns the channel keeps putting up clips every few days. Maybe something else that isnāt already hiding on YouTube will pop up.
