Count's Monster Picking Sequence

Trying to record a super fast picking/sweeping lick for my new EP and thought it might be fun to share with everyone, because it’s a real pain!

As you can see, there’s a lot going on. Should anyone fancy a go at it, I’d love to see the results! Trying to get it to 160bpm for the song which is… too fast! Ha!

I made an attempt last year which @Troy pointed out could have been a lot cleaner. So back to the drawing board, would be interesting to see anyone else have a stab at it!

Edit: I realised I don’t actually play the ending of the second bar correctly in this take! Oops!

 Can’t be worse than the trilogy intro! Haha!

Indeed it can! Because at least Trilogy is at a playable tempo :stuck_out_tongue:

Fair point! Haha! I really regret that tempo now. Still, there’s a lick that’s harder than this one and I managed to get that down, with a few more weeks of driving myself and my family insane with this lick, maybe i’ll actually get it!

Way too fast for me, especially the sweep picking part. I would love to see someone playing this.

Man 6s at 160 is very ambitious! I struggle to pick 5s at that speed (e.g. the erotomania lick). In general I don’t enjoy playing guitar when it goes beyond 6s @ 130bpm or so… it becomes too much work

Do you get fatigued when picking this lick?

On the plus side, it seems perfect for UWPS so it may feel comfortable to me (at a more humane speed) - might give it a shot

Pure legato at 110bpm might be possible, not sure how I’d play the sweep picked bit.

I actually got pretty close:

(sorry for the Facebook link. I deleted the original file for some reason so can’t put on youtube. Hopefully everyone can still watch it!)
But as you can hear, this isn’t 100% there, few fluffed notes. I even recorded a take at the correct tempo which I was almost happy with but then decided I could do better.

As for fatigue, not a lot. If I play it for extended periods of time when practice, sure my arm will get a bit tired, but after a few minutes rest I can go again straight away.
