COVID and how you're doing!

We’re somewhat lucky in that when this thing started we had a bunch of interviews already in our backlog — filming complete, but yet to be edited and released. We’ve still got I think like a half dozen of those to get finished up, and with that plus new Primer / lessons Troy and Tommo are working on, we should have plenty of stuff for at least the rest of the year.

No interviews right now that we had on the calendar and had to outright cancel, since the last few months we’d already been focusing more on tutorial stuff and Magnet Kickstarter (plus interview backlog!) But there are definitely some we’d talked about wanting to set up soon-ish, that we’ll now have to push to later and/or possibly look into doing certain things remotely.

That’s not so bad in that your workflow hasn’t been disrupted too much. It’s good fortune that you have a backlog to get through!

I’m a full time guitar player and educator in Denver, CO. It is tough here with all gigs cancelled since
February and I don’t know if any of the gigs still on the calendar will actually happen. My music school has been shut down and can now open again, but I don’t know yet how many of my teachers will be returning or how many students they will have. I have been teaching online lessons, but some of my students have been laid off and have had problems getting unemployment with the system overloaded so they are on a break. I look forward to the world restarting! At least I have had more time to work on my picking technique and CtC has really been enlightening! Keep up the good work!

I joined the forum about a month ago and since then my carpal tunnel has got out of control and I can’t play at all. I can do one ascending scale before my hand goes numb. Covid related because I’ve used acupuncture in the past to cure my carpal tunnel and I can’t go now because they are closed. I can’t believe how quickly this carpal tunnel escalated this time. So anyway. I’m just a YouTube practitioner now. Sad face.

Have you tried any trigger point/self myofascial release type stuff?

Nope but I’m googling how to do that now. Thanks.

Here in England nothing is moving yet, worldwide the entertainment profession is suffering greatly. I don’t know if I should go back to the US or stay in Europe until it gets a bit more stable but in truth I tell you that things will not be normal for a long time, perhaps it’ll be a new normal, for working musicians like us who play 3 sets a night in pubs, hotels, bars, casinos and whatever private events we can get things will definitely be different. I haven’t work since I got off the bloody ship many months ago now…
I’ve been studying like an animal though and thanks to CTC I’ve fall in love with my instrument again, good luck to all of you brothers and sisters and God bless.
Thank you.

Hello from Indonesia. Over here we our number of confirmed cases is still rising everyday. The country was in somewhat of a lockdown for a couple of months, and we have been in a “transition” period between a lockdown and “new normal” for the last month or so. Since the number of cases is still rising, we might be going back towards a lockdown, which makes me pretty nervous.

All this time at home has given me a chance to start properly learning electric guitar though, so I’ve got that going for me. I’ve only started about a little over a month ago so the CtC series and this forum is very valuable. I still have not figured out how to properly tremolo pick and generally play fast, but I hope to figure it out soon. Thanks for all the hard work and fantastic videos!

Stay safe to everyone.

I can say the same about USA, and there’s a lot of stuff going on that worries me besides that. Stay safe, and try to remain positive. See your future, be your future.

Brother the best cure I know is hardcore acupuncture preferably from a female Dr, it worked for me and I had tendonitis in both arms… No heavy weights if you workout of course, never, never, never admit to yourself that you can’t play because of you illness. Apply ice between sets if you’re working playing 3 sets a night or more, stretch before during and after playing. Good luck!
Cheers
