DBX/2way pick slant medium speed limit

I have recently gotten some degree of DBX picking to work. However, it caps out at about 165 bpm, and is very inconsistent/ “sticky” feeling at it’s highest tempo (in the same way string hopping feels). My understanding of the technique I am using is wrist deviation for the primary motion, and forearm rotation for string changes.

Here is an attached video of me doing the technique and the fastest I can. This feels pretty stiff and is inconsistent, but is the best I currently have.

Edit: I had my terms mixed up! I am interested in 2 way for this specific thread, NOT DBX (although they are related).

That’s around the same I have doing dbx or full alternate picking, if that’s the medium I don’t want to know the faster lol really.

I’d rather do usx and just pretend I am good

That’s why usx is faster. Half is on the left hand the other on the right pick. Full alternate is all on the left and right, at the same time. Clean but slow. In terms of shred.

But usx as I posted there is far more relaxed and faster

Do you have any examples of one note per string playing? This looks like two-way pickslanting to me rather than DBX as all your pickstrokes are DSX until you rotate with the forearm for the USX string changes (though the pickstroke is still generated by your wrist).

What I notice is that you rotate less for the changes the higher up you are, which says to me you might not be tracking with the elbow or shoulder enough as you ascend which could be throwing you off

ah yes you’re right! Sorry had my terminology off. This is 2 way pick slanting not DBX then. That is what I meant anyways.
