Difficulty Playing on Lower Strings

I find it more difficult to play on the E and A strings and I can’t play the things I can play on the other strings as well. Does anybody else have this issue? It feels like I don’t have a comfortable place for my arm like I do on the other strings.

How do you anchor your picking hand? After floating and trying a couple of other places, I ended up planting my fretting pinky under the lower edge of the pickup. Then as I descend back down my palm rises slightly to account for the fact that my fingers are moving down as my pinky stays stationary.

I had this problem years ago and really all you have to do is force yourself to practice on those problem strings more. It’d be a different thing entirely if you were having trouble with ALL of the strings, which suggests to me the problem is not technical but instead mental.

I do something similar I think. I sort of lightly rest my pinky on the body of the guitar.

Yeah more practice is usually the answer haha.

I’ve found a big thing is string tracking. How do you position your hand and what is your picking motion

I rest my forearm on the body of the guitar and pick near the bridge pickup. I use wrist/forearm with slight elbow movement when changing strings to keep the positioning of everything consistent. Or that is what I am attempting anyway.

Hey sorry was busy and say this come again and no one else commented, one thing I’ve been trying out for consistency is picking so that I’m only comfortable on the lowest string even if that inolves moving my shoulder elbow and or wrist to get comfy, and then deciding what I want to be the dominant string tracker, so look at your orinetation and if you go in the wrists range of motion for tracking it’s like an arch , no perfectly straight (which isn’t a bad thing) and the elbow follows the same path , and if you mix the elbow or wrist with shoulder you can track a striaght line. But also think of your motion, so if yours already picking from the wrist try making the wrist more domiant than anything else cuz it’s all a blend and try different angles for your forearm, 45 degree, maybe 60 even 90 degree and it doesn’t haven’t to be a consisnet straight line it just has to reach all strings
