Wasn’t sure with the pentatonic phrase at the start but the run at the end seems really fake and unnatural. Must of watched Yngwie do the same lick thousands of time but always looks natural despite the age/quality of the video
Just to let you know, you can always play shorts in the long form video player.
This allows you to use the YouTube playback speed controls.
What do you think looks off?
I honestly don’t think it’s sped up, frame rate could just make it look weird maybe?
It’s the way the fingers fly away from the fretboard for me, it makes the sync look off in a jumpy weird way. It’s not that it’s technically a bad thing as there are players whose fingers have more of a tendency to do this but I would expect some lessening of this at these high speeds.
Potentially, I don’t know anything about recording or frame rate so that could be it
Here is a similar kinda line played by @Chris_Brooks and it just looks so natural in comparison. Is there a noticeable difference in the frame rate to you?
Hmm, I see what you’re referring to, and after watching it a few times at .25x speed, I think it’s the fact that his pinky tends to really pull away from the fretboard. The other 3 fingers stay pretty close, and the last 3 (maybe 4) patterns don’t use pinky, so it’s really flying off.
The interesting thing is (unless I’m seeing things), he’s using his pinky in the fingerings in the slow example. If he were speeding up the video, wouldn’t he use the same fingerings for both?
Not really, I would say the only visual difference is the “sus” video is edited to follow the shifts in the left hand, so maybe that could give the unnatural appearance?
