DSX Sequence - C Melodic Minor

Okay, I have been toiling away at some stuff for the last bit, and thought I’d share. In typical fashion, I am dense AF and did not realize that there was such a thing as one-directional economy/sweep. I especially didn’t realize that I am one of those, and while my upstroke sweeps work out great, the downstroke ones are, ummm… not so good. I gave myself permission to stop beating myself to death with what I can’t do and instead focus on what I can do. Kind of the final piece of the puzzle in the “know thyself” project musically speaking… Which lets me get to work on stuff i can actually succeed at. Metronomic rock of course is a huge influence, thanks @tommo - it was a revelation to go through that package!

Anyways, now it’s time to get down to business - I have been focusing a lot on vocabulary now that I have a sort of playbook - Kind of my own version of the “Metronomic Rock” package! hah!

This is a pretty easy sequence. Picking - wise it’s all DSX alternate picking until the sweepy bit at the end which has the C minor arpeggios using, you guessed it upstroke sweeps in Malmsteen style until ending on ‘B’ with is the maj7th of the key. I thought I’d share it, I think it sounds all right and hopefully someone might find it helpful! I present it in it’s infancy, it will get much much faster and tighter I think! Anyways, rock on!

Sounds good to me. Really ripping when you go full speed.

My attention wants to hear the fastest version twice then the slower play-through as a viewer/listener.

Nice work sticking with what works. I watched your improv post and the best parts were when you went with what works well for you. Not sure if you’ve watched but that’s my take

@AustinK Hey man! Thanks for checking it out! Yep, going with the flow and doing my best with what I can do is my thing now! Working out okay! That first video was with an amp sim, and holy cow do I ever hate that tone…

Thanks for the pointer on the video, next time I’ll do that - fast one first, then some slow takes. I am still learning my sequence, baking it in so to speak. At about 160bpm (16ths) at the moment, but I think I sort of hover around 140ish in my videos…

Made a quick tutorial on my sequence, added the “sort of” backwards version not that anyone would need a tutorial on my simple stuff hahaha. But I used a mic, and played through my amp. Lefft the dang delay on, whups… All good, the videos are just for my guitar nerd pals.

Cool walkthrough. I can’t wait to see it at 180 and 200. Gonna start practicing your chunks tomorrow since I don’t know any minor scales outside of natural minor lol.

I may try to cook up a USX version to play with too as a good exercise for me
