Dumb question but how do you move your hand across the strings that fast?

Hi. I’m a new member working through the pickslanting primer. I’ll include some videos of my playing. But honestly the big question I have is how does one cross strings when playing that fast a la the Eric Johnson cascades? I simply cannot begin to get close to 16th notes at 180 BPM. That is just nuts. What am I missing? Thanks

Edit - Also I forgot to ask, should I stop here until I can get this up to tempo or keep going with primer? Honestly the fastest I can play the 5 note sweep thing is sloppily at 140 BPM.

You’ve got a pretty deadly tremolo! Have you figured out if it naturally escapes after upstrokes or downstrokes? I suspect that possibly it’s more suited to escaping after downstrokes instead of upstrokes and you’ve chosen patterns that don’t lend themselves well to that “super power”.

You have a full membership so I’d recommend making a more “official” technique critique (TC) directly on the main site. If you go to your dashboard there are links/vids to walk you through it. This will get you direct feedback from Troy or his team.

What @joebegly said!

Can you see that your form has changed between your first video and your other videos? Your first video looks like DSX elbow and the rest look like some form of wrist motion.
