Edge picking Tone (Darker and Muddy?)

I recently changed to use edge picking for a few months. My attack and the speed improved but my tone became darker and muddy. I was struggling with it for a while. I recently find that when changing to use edge picking, I also unconsciously change to use the side of the pick to pick instead of the tip of the pick. Then i tried to use the tip of the pick to pick, my tone become a little bit brighter but I still think it is muddy. Do anyone have the same experience? How do you fix? Please help. Thx!

Remark:
I use medium pick and downward pickslanting.

What type of picks are you using? What kind of picking did you use prior to edge picking? Leading edge/Trailing edge? Some pics of your picking hand in playing position would be helpful as well.

Thx!

I use the normal fender medium pick with the Leading Edge Picking.

Which part of the pick should I use to touch the string when using the Leading edge picking?
I think the answer should be the tip of the pick. But, even I pick with the tip of the pick, my trailing edge picking sounds the best. However, I cannot pick fast with the trailing edge picking.
So, anyone have the some problem? And How do you fix it?

It’s caused by how fast or slow the pick leave the strings. Fast release gives a snap, slow a softer tone. Try thinner picks, or pointier ones.

Seconded, this is exactly why jazz picks are popular for electric where you want the brightness. Find something with a sharper tip.
