The speed isn’t an issue. It’s not even a really hard lick. Pretty big position shifts though and my left hand often just misses or is inaccurate with the jumps. I’m guessing the way to nail this down would be to go left hand only and jump around the neck to get more accurate? Let’s talk left hand!!
Yeah probably just doing hammers would allow concentration on the ‘problem’, which is those huge shifts!
I haven’t watched the whole video, why did he say it’s a ‘hack’? Is there something about it he thinks is easier than the way EJ shifts? It definitely looks (and sounds) awesome when this guy plays it.
I didn’t recognize any sort of hack other than just playing a pentatonic lick differently than the EJ 5s or 6s. Think I’m def gonna spend some time doing Left hand only. Funny part is (and idk why ) this lick is actually harder for me to play with picking and hammer ons as opposed to just alternate picking.
