Having trouble after the downward sweep and the upstroke, jumping back to the bigger string with a downstroke. I can’t get the quickness i need. I know y’all are gonna ask for a video. I’ll get one uploaded tomorrow. But it’s almost like I can’t get my muscles to fire quick enough. Could it be a brain thing? Or do y’all think it’s muscular? Has anybody else struggled with this? I searched the forum for “pentatonic sweep triplets” and was surprised it yielded no topics. For me, it is key that I get this down. Not having trouble with DWPS really at all. Just this particular movement which is key to stringing those “fives” patterns together smoothly

I absolutely had problems with making this ‘seamless’. I pretty much gave up on doing this cleanly, but I know others here can do it, including Troy. I can do it now pretty neatly with X-picking though… but that takes a bit of time to learn.
But yes, a video would help.

Something that works for me is to make the upstroke louder, so the escaped pickstroke gets bigger and takes you there automatically. In fact I can play these Eric sweeps better when the accent falls on the upstrokes!

Thanks tommo that really did help. I think that might be the ticket.
