Eric Johnson Dwps/Uwps Lonely in the night help!

Hey everybody ( @Troy if you are out there…) So I am currently working on the first solo to “Lonely in the night” by Eric Johnson, I am using the tab which you can find on ultimate guitar and it seems to be legit. I’ve noticed some strange things decsending wise. Then it hit me, when watching the cascade seminar Troy spoke of Eric attempting to work out Upward pick slanting into his vocabulary during the recording of the fine art of guitar. Did he actually achieve this feet and utilize it during the recording of the album Venus isle? Itwould seem to indicate he is using doubling up notes on the 15th fret it order to turn the pick around to accommodate descending uwps, well at least to my ears and it’s really throwing a wrench into my ability to learn this solo!
