Read thorugh the forum… look at the videos. First I would suggest checking out this picking motion video. https://troygrady.com/channels/talking-the-code/introduction-to-picking-motion/
with those tools you can start analyzing which motions are you aplying and which ones you can try.
As well as working on speed work on relaxing unnecesary tension that will probably build up as you fight to conquer higher speeds.
Also check out the speed burst technique.

Thank you whenever I go to downward my pick seems to get stuck and I can’t find anything that works
Hi @Skyler_kroll you’ll have to provide more detail if you want to get useful feedback. The first thing you should do is experiment with various motions (as explained in the intro to picking motion and discussed a ton here on the forum), let us know what exactly you’ve tried, and what points you’re struggling with…
After you’ve done that you’re welcome to post a video of your playing in #technique-critique if you like; if there’s a particular problem you’re trying to solve a video is often worth a thousand words 
But please make sure you’ve done your homework first and can be as specific as possible when talking about this stuff since it makes it easier for us to help!
