Guys – I’m seriously trying to get those arpeggios for Gimme, Gimme, Gimme. It’s played using a synth sound so I’ve transcribed by ear it for guitar.
Yngwie has covered this tune, however the way he plays it is far from the original, and not just because he plays it in Eb
. Yngwie plays Eb-
, the scale run and Bb-
— that’s it.
So far, I have: | D- | F∆ | A- | D- |
The first chord, D-
, starts on the and of 3
. The scale run starts on the downbeat of M2
, F∆
. Then there’s an F∆
arpeggio that ends on the note a
on the downbeat of M3
On M3
, on the and of 3
, there is an ascending A-
arpeggio to a descending D-
arpeggio.
Yngwie’s version is cool because it’s Yngwie, so the technique and feel are awesome, but I rather like the harmonic, melodic craftsmanship of the original.
Because of the horrible stretch on the D- arpeggio, I transposed it up to G minor, so…
| G- | Bb∆ | D- | G- |
The way I play it requires sweeping, position changes, LH angle changes (to support vibrato vs play a big stretch) and RH pick angle changes for USX and DSX. It’s a good exercise! A lot harder than it sounds.
Have you worked on this before?
