Guitar Notation - What Apps do you use?

  • Guitar Pro
Great for guitar not intended to be a professional scoring app for orchestras, etc. That said it does a ton of different instruments and is great for song writing and teaching.

THE Guitar Notation app hands down!

This is my main app, I do alpha/beta testing for them.
I focus a LOT on MusicXML and MIDI, if exporting/importing MusicXML and MIDI is easier for you now your welcome.

  • Sibelius
Seasoned Pro App, MusicXML import is not great

  • Finale
    Seasoned Pro App

  • Notion
    Pro App
Integrates nicely with Studio One 5, Guitar TAB input is terrible.

  • Dorico
    Pro App
New kid on the block, a LOT of great features already!

  • MuseScore
Free, a lot of great features, open source

-SoundSlice
Great online solution, video sync, awesome for teaching.

Guitar Pro, hands down.
There is really nothing it can’t do that I need. And works great on windows too. I miss somany apps from the apple space like anyTune and other classical music analysis tools.
Thanks for all your work!

Use Notion for classical violin scores, it can be a bit flakey.
