My name is Alex and I am very excited to be here! While I’ve watched several of Troy’s popular/impressive videos on YT it wasn’t until recently I was recommended to join because I am having issues on my picking… It is funny how you don’t think you have that problem picking or whatever technique it may be since you’ve been playing for a long time. I think Paul Gilbert admitted he didn’t know how to do a proper pinch harmonic for Lord knows however many years. Clearly the first step is admitting you have a problem lol.
As you can tell by my handle name, I am a big Zakk Wylde fan. I love his picking style and just the machine gun like sound he gets out of his axe. Pretty much like everyone on this great forum, I also tip my hat to Gilbert, Johnson, YM, EVH, etc. Been playing for about 15 years on and off and stick to my Gibson’s and ESP’s. Traded in my Randall for a Yamaha THR10X and am venturing into the digital tones nowadays. But I am looking tp pick up a Marshall AVT275, so any recommendations or advice on a good Marshall for the house, please reply!
My first goal is to really nail down the downward picking angle to play the ZW alternate stuff and then move on to more melodic 3NPS styles. One step at at time and I appreciate everyone’s help in advance. If I can be of assistance don’t hesitate to ask.
Happy Holidays!
