Hey all, new member! I’ve followed Troy’s work for a long time now but have never massively been into picking technique. I remember studying his early videos when in music school.
I’ve been playing nearly 25 years now (wow) years and always been more into legato and some economy picking.
However, over the last year or so I’m been having wrist and arm / shoulder issues which I know is from bad and tense technique, so decided it is time to really learn how to pick efficiently and SAFELY. I’ve tried a couple of different styles over the last few months and decided that ‘scalpel’ (thumb flexing) seems to be the one I am gelling with the most.
A long way to go (I’ll post a separate thread about it) but great to finally be here!
I’m in the UK and play in a Whitesnake tribute band as well as an original Viking / Pagan themed metal band.
Cheers,
Adam
