Hello everyone, my name is Dan and I’m currently living in the Philippines!
I’m a 30 year old practicing physician specializing in family medicine and have been a guitar hobbyist for a few years now. I’ve always wanted to be able to play like my guitar heroes Paul Gilbert, Yngwie, Petrucci, etc. and I was fortunate enough to find some of Troy’s videos on the web.
It was very inspiring to see Troy break down some of the most technically advanced players’ techniques into something ordinary people like myself can actually recreate. I fumbled my way through most of my high-school years playing guitar and wasn’t able to practice or play as much as I wanted to when I started my medical training. Whenever I would try to pick the guitar back up, I’d feel frustrated and figured that I just wasn’t meant to shred.
Needless to say, I bought the Pickslanting Primer as well as a new guitar and amplifier on the way. I’ll probably post an NGD here when it arrives and I start really digging into the lessons in earnest.
Congratulations @Troy for finally getting the forum running and I hope he keeps up the incredible work.
