Hey everyone! My name’s Colton, and I became a member, mostly to gain more knowledge. And I figured I would introduce myself.
So I’m gonna answer the suggested questions.
Where are you in your guitar journey?
–I started when I was 9 years old, and I’m 30 years old now. I’d say I’m pretty advanced as a guitarist, but I’m always willing to learn something new, and impart what I’ve learned to others!
How many years have you been playing?
–21 years.
What musical genres are you interested in?
–I’m very much interested in metal, jazz, blues, and classical. Anything that sounds great and requires a human to do it, I’m interested in.
Particular things you’re excited to learn / talk about here?
–Anything really! I’m always seeking to improve and learn something new!
How have you gone about learning guitar so far?
–I have mostly been teaching myself, and picking up any valuable information.
Self-taught? Regular lessons with a teacher? Both?
–Self-taught, mostly.
Have you spent much time on technique before finding our stuff?
–Oh yes. I’m always seeking to improve. This is the first source I’ve found that actually focused on picking technique, and just the YouTube videos already helped me out. Because of them, is why I’m here to learn more awesome things.
What Cracking the Code material have you watched?
–Pretty much everything on the YouTube channel, lol.
Can you comfortably play a scale? At roughly what speed?
–I can. I haven’t measured the bpm exactly, but pretty fast.
Any particular things you find yourself stuck on?
–Two way pickslanting and I really want to get better at gypsy jazz, bluegrass, and fusion. I feel I got the metal covered, and I’ve always felt those areas are where I need to improve.
Nice to meet everyone!
