Me too bro. That sums up how I feel unfortunately. I hope in the foreseeable future that the working week will be cut to 4 days 9 to 5, then maybe in 50 years or so the younger generation could enjoy 3 day weeks. AI could have that sort of impact if we choose to use it that way.
I know I need to play more I must try harder. I sit there working at home and look at my strat very often, I should just pick it up and noodle while thinking work stuff through.
What keeps me motivated is learning songs. I haven’t been motivated by the guitar itself—just practicing scales and mindless noodling—in many years. I like finding a song that I really want to learn that challenges me, but not so much that it’s discouraging.
If I depended love of the guitar for its own sake I’d be screwed, because I really have no passion for the instrument itself. To me it’s just a tool, like a hammer.
Yeah, do that! You might be surprised how it might lead to problem solving in either case.
I think we all suffered from a lack of motivation at some point. For me, I have rediscovered my love of guitar through learning songs - songs that aren’t even difficult to play. I find that mastering and memorising a song feels good. Even working out the chords to pop songs is very satisfying.
Don’t give up on something you have invested so much time in.
Take care.

That is my way of staying with it! Sometimes I do it a bit too much and it ends up making my work day extra long though…
