Good topic. The question for me is more how did Yngwie come up with his style? How do you develop a pricking style like that during that era? Amazing.
So unique too. I’m embarrassed to admit I’m not as familiar with his entire discography as I should be, but as far as I’m concerned, to me is a true original and pioneer for bringing all those neo elements into popular guitar-music in that decade, and contrary to most, I find his attitude daring and remarkable.
YJM at Leningrad live is some of the most bone chilling stuff I’ve ever witnessed from him, or anyone else for that matter.
I first heard him in the mid 80s when I heard the solos from the first alcatrazz album. Unbelievable. Had not heard anything like it. The melodic nature of those solos combined with that picking just astounded me. Still sounds amazing.
