How natural upward pickslanters but two way pickslanters play even number of notes per string, Do they start with an upstroke or depend on two way pickslanting on all times?
How would someone like MAB play 2 nps scales like pentatonic or diminished starting on downstroke , will they use TWPS ? I feel bit weird when changing pickslanting frequently on pentatonic scales
I start 2nps patterns using upstrokes but you could cross pick them or swipe through them if you wanted
Try starting from the top string meaning High E start with you first finger and play a down-stroke then move to next string and go from there you will stay in UWPS all the way the time comes you will have to rotate down to get to the high E again. Another thing could be doing triplet pentatonic lines on each string then you will always be up. I prefer up but can do TWPS when it involves inside picking better than if it was outside for some reason which is really peculiar. When I practice DWPS it is not always staying static I see myself rotating down most of the time. If you practice the vinny moore 3NPS lick you will start to feel when you have to rotate to down at the last note on the lower string to go back to the high string. When doing pentatonics I try to do UWPS going down the patern then rotate to DWPS on the way back up. For some reason I like that better then starting DWPS first. Sorry for the long drawn out descriptions. This may be a box but you would imagine you could come up with some neat patterns to play. Sometimes restrictions bring out neat ideas to get out of a jamb you know.
You could also do the reverse as well starting from the low E string. Try that a few times and your hand may become a custom to switching between the two pick slants.
