I created a thread and my personal email was loaded up with notifications from every post others made. How can I shut that notification off?

Great, no worries yeah some settings can be a bit hard to find. If anyone else is looking for these settings, for reference —
Click your user avatar in the upper right, then the gear icon in the dropdown menu to get to your preferences, then:
- “Emails” will let you turn on or off emails both for notifications and the “activity summary” you’ll get if you haven’t visited the forum in a while
- “Notifications” lets you adjust settings for site notifications when you’re on the forum itself
